Ten steps to complete the Kelley MBA application process
You must take the GMAT or GRE before submitting your application.
- GMAT test takers: Have your scores sent to the Kelley Full-Time MBA Program (code 8ZG-41-37).
- GRE test takers: Have your scores sent to Indiana University, Bloomington (code 1324).
Official score reports are required at the time of application. Official scores take approximately two weeks to be delivered.
Note: We cannot accept GMAT or GRE scores that are more than five years old.
GMAT/GRE Waiver: The curriculum of the Kelley Full-Time +Flex MBA is academically rigorous. We typically require the GMAT or GRE as one demonstration of quantitative and analytic capability. Candidates may apply for a waiver of this requirement and submit other evidence of their academic potential. In evaluating waiver requests, we will focus on strong academic achievement in prior undergraduate and graduate degree programs, with particular attention to successful completion of quantitative and analytic coursework. Holding CPA or CFA certification (or their international equivalents) can also serve to demonstrate academic potential.
To request a GMAT/GRE waiver, you must complete the following two steps:
- Complete and submit our online information request form (to ensure that we have your most current contact information); and
- Submit via email (iumba@iu.edu) a current professional resume, your unofficial or official undergraduate transcripts (and graduate school transcripts, if applicable), and a brief statement (300 words or less) summarizing why you believe you qualify for a waiver.
Deadlines for submission of waiver requests:
- Round one applicants: October 1
- Round two applicants: December 15
- Round three applicants: February 15
- Round four applicants: April 1
You will receive a response to your request within one week of submission.
If English is not your native language, you must take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English language Testing System) before submitting your application.
- TOEFL test takers: Have your scores sent to Indiana University, Bloomington (code 1324).
- IELTS test takers: Simply request your scores be sent to Indiana University, Bloomington.
Minimum scores: We require a minimum internet-based TOEFL score of 100; 600 on the paper-based TOEFL; or band 7.0 on the IELTS at the time of application in order to be eligible for admission.
Official score reports are required at the time of application. Official scores take approximately two weeks to be delivered.
Note: We cannot accept TOEFL or IELTS scores that are more than two years old.
Waiver of the TOEFL or IELTS requirement: The requirement will automatically be waived for international applicants who have earned an undergraduate or post-graduate degree from an institution in which English was the language of instruction. Candidates may simply indicate this in their application or optional essay; nothing further is required.
Go to the CAS website and create an account with a username and password. On the My Application tab, you will see the common sections you need to complete including Personal Information, Academic History, and Supporting Information. Under the Add Program tab, search for “Kelley Full-Time MBA” and click the “+” sign to the left of the program listing. This will add our specific Program Materials questions to your My Application tab.
Joint degree seekers: The CAS will require that you complete Program Materials section for each degree. Please contact each department to obtain their program listing information. For information about the MBA/MA or JD/MBA options, see our joint degrees. For information on the law school application process, contact the Indiana University Maurer School of Law Office of Admissions.
As outlined in steps one and two, official score reports are required at the time of application. Scanned copies of your unofficial GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, or IELTS score reports can be uploaded in the Documents section of the application. This will help us to move your application forward if we are awaiting your official scores.
We require a scanned copy of your academic records/transcripts from every college or university you have attended. The scanned documents must be clearly legible. Transcripts for study abroad programs or transfer credits are not required if the course titles, grades, and credit hours are included on the transcript of the degree-granting institution. If your transcripts are in languages other than English, also submit translated versions. You do not need to submit hard copies of academic records when you apply. If you are offered admission and accept, you will be required to submit official academic records for verification prior to enrollment.
Applicants should upload their most up-to-date resume in the Documents section of the application. You are encouraged to limit your resume to two pages—one page resumes are preferred.
Download the essay questions and upload your responses in a single file in the Program Materials section of the application, on the Documents tab. We encourage you to be honest, informative, creative, and concise.
Applicants should submit one recommendation. Your recommender should be someone who can comment meaningfully on your professional performance. A current or recent supervisor is preferred. Utilize our Online Recommendation System (found in the Program Materials section of the application) to provide your recommender’s information. Recommendations are also due by the application deadline.
Interviews are offered by invitation only, after you apply. Not all applicants will be invited to interview. For those who are invited, the invitation can come at any point in the process up until shortly before admission decisions are released. Interviews will be conducted virtually via Zoom.
Once you have uploaded your supporting documents and your application is complete, go to the Submit Application tab and click the Submit button on your intended program. You will be prompted to pay the $75 application fee by credit card. Remember, you must take the GMAT or GRE (and TOEFL or IELTS for international applicants) before submitting your application.
Please pay close attention to our deadlines listed below. To be considered on time, your online application must be submitted and all supporting materials received by the deadline you choose. Your recommendation should also be submitted by the deadline.
Applications must be completed utilizing the IU Graduate Centralized Application System. Within the Graduate Application, search for “Kelley Full-Time MBA” under the “Add Programs” tab. Please review the application instructions carefully, steps one through ten, before beginning the application.
