Visit the Starter Kit to create your Indiana University computing account. You will need to have your 10 digit University ID number available, found within your admission offer email and letter. Once you create your account, be sure to record your student username and passphrase in a safe, secure place for future reference.
So that our Office of International Services can issue the necessary documents to you, be sure to complete your iStart checklist and submit the documents requested by OIS. You can access iStart at https://istart.iu.edu. Keep an eye on your email, and be sure to respond to any questions or messages from OIS promptly. It can take as many as four to six weeks after you provide your evidence of financial support before OIS is able to issue an I-20. We encourage you to submit your documents as soon as possible to avoid any delays.
Rental properties in Bloomington are in high demand. Start your search early to find the best fit for you.
If you are a domestic student, you can set up your IU email account immediately following creation of your IU computing account using Exchange. We use Microsoft Outlook here at Kelley, and the Outlook and Exchange systems work well together. Instructions for setting up your IU email account and ensuring that you are set up to use Exchange are available on the IU Knowledge Base.
If you are an international student, you will have to provide your financial support documents/evidence of financial support before you can set up your Exchange email account. Once the Office of International Services (OIS) finishes the review of your credentials and financial documentation, OIS will complete the I-20 and update your status in the university system from applicant to admit and then you will be able to set up your Exchange email account. Depending on the time of year, it can take as many as four to six weeks after you provide your evidence of financial support before OIS completes the process. Until then, you will not be able to create your Exchange email account.
If you have difficulties in setting up your account, please contact the University Informational Technology Service (UITS) at ithelp@iu.edu.
Once your email account is set up, please check it regularly. Our office will begin using that account in July and will no longer email you at non-IU email addresses.
Incoming students often ask, "How should I prepare for the fall semester?" We recommend refreshing your math skills through two options. For those eyeing careers in investment banking, private wealth, or strategic finance, the "Financial Career Training: Technical Interview Preparation" course offers advanced tools. Alternatively, the "Math for Management” course by Harvard Business School Publishing covers essential math topics. Additional information will be available and course registration will open on May 1.
In accordance with state laws, Indiana University requires that all students provide immunization information to the University’s Office of the Registrar. One of the main objectives of this state law is to enable the university to provide a safer and healthier environment for students. You will be required to complete an online form and provide your immunization records. We recommend that you get started on the process of collecting your records as soon as possible after making your admission decision. Learn about the required documentation. You will be able to complete the form and submit your records in the early summer.
We strongly recommend that every student obtain appropriate health insurance coverage for yourself and, if applicable, for your partner and children. Certain MBA students may be automatically enrolled in an IU health plan as follows:
- An MBA student (domestic or international) who has received a fellowship of $13,500 or more will be automatically enrolled in a comprehensive insurance plan.
- International MBA students who are not on a fellowship will be enrolled in a health insurance plan as part of their visa requirements. They will be billed through their Bursar account.
Note: if you are an international student who has received a fellowship and you plan on bringing your spouse and/or dependents with you to the US, you should contact Emily Stern to make arrangements to enroll in the international health insurance plan in lieu of the fellowship insurance plan.
If you are eligible to participate in one of these IU plans, you have already been notified by the MBA program office. More information is available for international students and for fellowship recipients. Insurance coverage for both plans begins on August 1. Please be aware that if you visit the Health Center before August 1, you will not be reimbursed for services through your insurance plan.
If you are not covered by an IU insurance plan, here are some resources that you can use to locate a plan for yourself and/or your family:
HealthCare.gov – Marketplace
MDwise – Healthy Indiana Plan
Hoosier Healthwise – Children and pregnant women
If you receive ongoing care from a physician, mental health professional, or other healthcare provider, we strongly recommend that you talk with your provider and inform them of your relocation to Bloomington well in advance of your move. Work with your provider to develop a plan to transition your care, as well as any prescriptions you may require, to healthcare professionals and/or a pharmacy in Bloomington. Because it can take weeks—or even longer—to establish care with a provider in a new community, we urge you to begin this process prior to your move.
You may want to buy a new laptop computer before starting the MBA program. If so, please consult our tech team’s advice. When you arrive in Bloomington, our tech services staff will work with you to configure your laptop for use at Kelley.
Once you are enrolled in mid-July, you will have free access to most commonly used software programs.
Me, Inc. and orientation begin Sunday, August 3, and continue until the start of classes Monday, August 25. You’ll shape your personal brand, dive into career development and be on your way to understanding your leadership style. When you meet prospective employers during your first week of class, you’ll be ready.
At Indiana University, the CrimsonCard is the official photo identification card. It allows you to access various university buildings, facilities, and services, and can also be used to pay for purchases at various shops and restaurants on and off campus.
You will be able to get your CrimsonCard when you arrive on campus. Just go to the CrimsonCard location at the Wells Library during their operating hours, and be sure to bring a valid, government-issued ID such as a driver’s license or passport and your 10-digit IU ID number with you.
