Academic resources

The curriculum at Kelley is rigorous. This might be the first time your child is really challenged in the classroom—and that’s OK. It’s important for them to seek help from their teachers and advisors, as well as use resources at Kelley and IU. Encourage your student to visit the Student Portal on the Kelley website to explore academic support services.

Academic advisors help students explore their interests, plan their path of study, and answer questions. Students can schedule an appointment with an advisor, or visit the office during drop-in hours for quick advising appointments. The Undergraduate Advising Office is located in Hodge Hall 3035.

  • Drop-in appointments last no more than 15 minutes and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Check the Student Portal for drop-in hours.
  • Advising appointments are 30 minutes and allow students to talk through complex concerns, including academic goal setting, major and minor exploration, and graduation planning. Learn more and schedule an appointment.

  • Peer coaches are students trained by Kelley faculty and staff to provide free academic coaching for specific courses. Peer coaching is available for BUS-A100, BUS-A201, BUS-A202, BUS-C104/BUS-C 106, BUS-C204/BUS-C205, and BUS-G202. Learn more about peer coaching.
  • Is your student struggling with Computers in Business? Free peer tutoring is available for BUS-K201 and BUS-K303. Check out Kelley’s peer tutors.

  • Students can use th IU Academic Support Centers across campus to get help with quantitative, science, and/or writing courses. ASCs are located in Briscoe, Forest, and Teter residence halls.
  • The Math Learning Center is a great resource for peer assistance with math-specific courses such as Finite and Calculus.
  • Writing Tutorial Services locations across campus provide feedback on papers and other writing assignments. Although WTS staff members don’t edit papers, they can provide tools to help your student enhance writing skills and improve writing assignments.

Get tips from current students on how to be successful in some of Kelley’s required courses, including Computers in Business (BUS-K201), Basic Accounting Skills (BUS-A100), and Finite Mathematics (MATH-M118).
