Frequently asked questions about the MS in Management
Application process
Applications must be completed utilizing the IU Graduate Centralized Application System. Within the Graduate Application, search for “MS in Management” under the “Add Programs” tab. Please review the application instructions carefully before beginning the application.
You will need to submit the following:
- Completed application
- Transcripts
- Resume or CV
- Two essays
- Two letters of recommendation
- GMAT or GRE scores (if required)
- Application fee
- English language exam scores (if required)
The application process involves:
- Submitting your online application with all required documents.
- Participating in an interview if selected.
- Awaiting the admissions decision.
All currently enrolled undergraduate IU Bloomington students are eligible to apply to the program starting in their sophomore year. Students from other IU campuses and non-IU schools are eligible to apply to the program in their final year of undergraduate study.
The specific application deadlines vary each year. Generally, there are multiple rounds of deadlines, typically in the fall, winter, and spring. Check the Admissions page for the most current deadlines.
No. The MS in Management Program offers one intake period per year, in the summer.
Interviews are not required. They are offered by invitation only, after you apply and after your application is complete. Not all applicants will be invited to interview. For those who are invited, the invitation can come at any point in the process up until shortly before admission decisions are released.
Background requirements and prerequisites
Absolutely! The MS in Management Program is designed to accommodate students from diverse academic backgrounds. Whether you have a degree in the sciences, humanities, engineering, or any other field, you are encouraged to apply. Nonbusiness majors will take Business Foundations, a 6 credit hour program that prepares nonbusiness majors for success in a specialized business master's degree program.
We do not require work experience prior to entering the MS in Management Program. Instead, this program is tailored for nonbusiness majors who are either graduating this year or have completed their undergraduate studies within the last two years.
International applicants
Yes, international applicants are welcome and encouraged to apply. The program values diversity and aims to bring together students from various cultural and academic backgrounds.
International applicants need to submit:
- Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL or IELTS scores)
- Official transcripts with English translations if necessary
- Financial documentation for visa purposes (after admission)
No. You can wait and submit financial support documentation after you receive your admission decision from the Kelley School of Business. Indiana University, however, cannot complete your visa documentation (the I-20) until they have received proof of adequate financial support.
Yes, Indiana University offers extensive support services for international students, including visa assistance, orientation programs, academic advising, and cultural integration activities.
We do not accept students with a three-year bachelor's degree from an institution of higher education (college or university) from India. Students with a three-year degree from India will need to complete the first year of a postgraduate degree to be eligible for admission.
Professional programs offered by external agencies, organizations, or non-university groups are not acceptable.
Yes, we will accept three-year bachelor's degrees from the UK, as the UK education system is similar to that of the US.
Please do not convert your GPA. Enter 0.00 if your university does not use a 4.0 scale. The admissions committee is familiar with transcripts from other countries and will be able to review your application accordingly.
Tuition and fellowships
Once you are admitted and decide to attend the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, there is a nonrefundable enrollment deposit of $500 USD, regardless of which round you apply in.

Yes, various financial aid options are available, including scholarships and graduate assistant positions. Be sure to explore all financial aid opportunities and apply early.
Candidates who apply will be automatically considered for merit-based scholarships, and no separate application is required. If you are selected for a scholarship award and/or Graduate Assistant position, you’ll be notified at the time of admission.
For Indiana University students who are graduating with an undergraduate degree from the College of Arts and Sciences, STEM-based scholarships–up to $25,000 for out-of-state students and up to $15,000 for in-state students–are available.
Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) through the online form for US citizens and immigrant permanent residents to apply for the federal Stafford and PLUS loan programs. The US Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education offers additional information about federal aid available upon completing the FAFSA.
International students are eligible for private loans but expect most private loan companies to require a US citizen or permanent resident to act as a cosigner to secure the loan.
Academics
The program takes 10 to 12 months to complete on a full-time basis.
The MS in Management Program is the only MSM offered at Indiana University or the Kelley School of Business as a residential program.
You can choose your own path by specializing in one of three key areas of management:
- Strategy
- Leadership and human resources
- Entrepreneurship
You’ll select elective courses that explore the subspecialty of your choice.
Note that specialization is an option not a requirement.
The MSM program totals 36 credit hours for nonbusiness undergraduates and 30 credit hours for students with Kelley School of Business majors or minors or for business majors and minors from approved schools and colleges.
No, the MS in Management Program is currently not STEM-designated.
