Fintech careers are a new area of opportunity across all areas of finance

Graduates from the MS in Finance program work in a wide range of jobs and industries including corporate finance, capital markets, consulting, and investment banking. Many of these career paths are undergoing a dramatic evolution brought about by fintech—new developments in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other technologies that enable firms to deliver or consume a wide range of financial services at greater speed and lower cost.

The infographic shows the word fintech in the middle and points to four career pathways that fintech is impacting: corporate finance, capital markets, consulting, and investment banking.
  • Corporate finance—help small, medium, or large companies raise capital, make better investment decisions, manage exposure to risks such as fluctuations in currency values and interest rates, restructure asset portfolios through acquisitions and divestitures, build forecasting models for short- and long-term financial plans, and develop business plans for new ventures

  • Capital markets—advise clients on wealth management strategies, conduct research on stocks and other securities to shape investment decisions, develop trading strategies for investment services firms, manage risk in financial institutions, and conduct analysis of investment opportunities in private equity and real estate

  • Fintech—apply new technologies to automate a wide range of financial services provided to both retail and corporate clients

  • Investment banking—assist corporate and public-sector clients with capital raising and restructuring activities, provide advice on mergers and acquisitions, and develop and implement strategies for managing risks of large, complex financial institutions

  • Consulting—engage with clients on a diverse set of problems ranging from improving financial performance, restructuring lines of business and product portfolios, implementing programs for new disclosure requirements focused on climate risks, and gathering and synthesizing various forms of market intelligence

“Kelley's MS in Finance equipped me with the financial acumen and network that have accelerated my career. I now collaborate with executives, offering strategic insights as part of a trusted team—an opportunity I would not have had without this program.”
