We are leaders in business law

As one of the country’s largest and most well-respected departments of its kind, the Department of Business Law and Ethics continues Kelley’s strong business law tradition. Since the 1930s, we have been leaders in this diverse field—at the Kelley School and beyond. After all, today’s professionals can’t make sound business decisions without an understanding of their legal and ethical implications.

The Department of Business Law and Ethics has a wide reach on campus. Whether you are a Kelley undergraduate business major, a liberal arts major interested in the legal aspects of business, or a graduate student, we are your business law resource, offering a wide range of law-related courses.

Here’s how business law can enhance your education:

All Kelley undergraduate business students, no matter their major, are required to take L201 Legal Environment of Business and L375 Ethics and the 21st Century Business Leader or L376 Honors: Ethics and the 21st Century Business Leader. If you want to learn more, we offer a variety of electives.

Kelley undergraduates can pursue the Law, Ethics, and Decision-Making (LEAD) co-major. This co-major nicely complements other Kelley majors.

All students in the residential MBA program are required to take the Critical Thinking course, an essential part of the MBA core, as well as L507 Law and Ethics for Business Leaders. Both courses are taught exclusively by business law faculty members.

Students in the online MBA program take a required law and ethics course and may pursue various electives taught by business law and ethics faculty.

Students in the 3/2 MBA and MSADA Graduate Accounting Programs take three required courses taught by business law and ethics faculty.
