Curriculum

This set of classes (36 credit hours) develops valuable advanced financial skills in a technical accounting curriculum and integrates principles of business. The 150-hour requirement to sit for the CPA exam in most states is satisfied. Learn more about 3/2 MBA Core classes and see course descriptions.

In the second year of the program, you’ll specialize in finance or accounting and take courses that align with your career goals. The flexible curriculum (30 credit hours) will allow you to differentiate yourself in the marketplace. Learn more about 3/2 MBA Core classes and see course descriptions.

Through IU’s partnership with Becker Professional Education, Kelley graduate accounting students will receive access to a Becker representative who will help them choose from a variety of prep formats and assist with account set up and any other related questions.

NOTE: IU Bloomington has determined completion of the 3/2 MBA degree meets educational requirements to apply for the CPA exam in Indiana. We have not made this determination for any other jurisdiction at this time.

The Kelley School's Graduate Accounting Program will work with a 3/2 MBA student to interpret exam eligibility requirements in the jurisdiction being considered. You may find links to all CPA jurisdictions and their eligibility and licensure requirements at the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.

Gain real-world experience through field study

Nothing prepares students for the challenges faced in the boardroom like experiential learning. These opportunities include:

  • Capstone competition: Student teams compete against each other in an industry with the assistance of a faculty mentor during this weeklong multidisciplinary business simulation.
  • Global field study: A signature element of the 3/2 MBA program is a seven-week internship at the end of the spring semester of the first graduate year (fourth year at Kelley). In keeping with our promise of preparing students for success, students engage in hands-on projects where they are fully immersed within host companies around the world. Read our field study brochure for more information.
  • Local field consulting: Kicking off year two of graduate study, semester-long consulting projects give 3/2 MBA students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business issues in a team setting.
  • More internship opportunities: All 3/2 MBA students engage with at least three companies or organizations while earning their degree. Many students use the summer between their senior year and fifth year to complete an internship.
