    Combine the principles of accounting with business fundamentals

    Your 3/2 MBA experience will be intense. The innovative, two-year program prepares you for critical moments in a fast-paced career. The curriculum focuses on real-world experiences—think field study and internships—and you will work with at least three companies while earning your degree.

    It’s well worth the effort. For the class of 2023, 98.3% of students received job offers in their filed within 90 days of graduation.

    The 3/2 MBA curriculum includes the following

    This set of classes (34.5 credit hours) develops valuable advanced financial skills in a technical accounting curriculum and integrates principles of business. Learn more about 3/2 MBA Core classes and see course descriptions.

    In the second year of the program, you’ll specialize in finance or accounting and take courses that align with your career goals. The flexible curriculum (30 credit hours) will allow you to differentiate yourself in the marketplace. Learn more about 3/2 MBA Core classes and see course descriptions.

    IU Bloomington has determined completion of the 3/2 MBA degree meets educational requirements to apply for the CPA exam in Indiana. We have not made this determination for any other jurisdiction at this time.

    The Kelley School's Graduate Accounting Program will work with a 3/2 MBA student to interpret exam eligibility requirements in the jurisdiction being considered. You may find links to all CPA jurisdictions and their eligibility and licensure requirements at the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.

    Gain real-world experience through field study

    Nothing prepares students for the challenges faced in the boardroom like experiential learning. These opportunities include:

    • Global field study: A signature element of the 3/2 MBA program is an unpaid seven-week internship at the end of the spring semester of the first graduate year (fourth year at Kelley). In keeping with our promise of preparing students for success, students engage in hands-on projects where they are fully immersed within host companies around the world.
    • Local field consulting: Kicking off year two of graduate study, semester-long consulting projects give 3/2 MBA students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business issues in a team setting.
    • More internship opportunities: Many students choose to complete a summer internship between their senior (fourth) year and their fifth year of the program. These internships often deepen industry knowledge, expand professional networks, and, in many cases, lead to full-time employment opportunities after graduation.
      All 3/2 MBA students participate in experiential learning with at least three different organizations throughout the program. These experiences are integrated into the curriculum and provide hands-on exposure to real-world business challenges, allowing students to apply classroom concepts in practical settings, in addition to building critical networking skills.

    The kick-start to Josh Malarsky’s success

    The Kelley 3/2 MBA enabled Josh Malarsky to kick-start his career and progress quickly to a leadership position at Katz, Sapper, & Miller.

    Description of the video:

    WEBVTT

    00:02.510 --> 00:04.210
    - I'm a partner in a real estate group

    00:04.210 --> 00:05.690
    at Katz, Sapper and Miller

    00:05.690 --> 00:08.660
    and my role as a partner
    is to work with clients

    00:08.660 --> 00:10.630
    who have a focus in the
    real estate industry

    00:10.630 --> 00:12.780
    and help them with any kind of tax problem

    00:12.780 --> 00:14.830
    or business problem that
    they can come up with.

    00:14.830 --> 00:17.480
    The 3/2 MBA program really
    enabled me to get a kickstart

    00:17.480 --> 00:18.313
    on my career.

    00:18.313 --> 00:21.280
    I passed the CPA exam in the fall of 2005

    00:21.280 --> 00:22.610
    a few months after graduating.

    00:22.610 --> 00:24.460
    For someone going into public accounting

    00:24.460 --> 00:26.360
    or corporate accounting, the CAP exam

    00:26.360 --> 00:27.550
    is absolutely critical.

    00:27.550 --> 00:29.580
    Being able to be prepared for the CPA exam

    00:29.580 --> 00:31.762
    while being in class
    during the 3/2 program

    00:31.762 --> 00:33.500
    was really a phenomenal benefit

    00:33.500 --> 00:36.150
    to be completed with a master's degree

    00:36.150 --> 00:38.180
    and the CPA exam within just a few months

    00:38.180 --> 00:39.360
    of being out of school,

    00:39.360 --> 00:41.160
    being able to get those two hurdles

    00:41.160 --> 00:42.900
    taken care of right at
    the start of my career

    00:42.900 --> 00:44.460
    allowed me to just continue focusing

    00:44.460 --> 00:46.110
    on my clients and learning

    00:46.110 --> 00:48.180
    about the world of public accounting

    00:48.180 --> 00:50.150
    and I think that played a large role

    00:50.150 --> 00:52.330
    in my ability to progress
    at Katz, Sapper and Miller.

    00:52.330 --> 00:54.730
    For someone looking to
    expand their horizons,

    00:54.730 --> 00:57.800
    be it a master's degree
    or higher education,

    00:57.800 --> 00:59.520
    I would say that the 3/2 program at Kelley

    00:59.520 --> 01:01.130
    is a phenomenal opportunity

    01:01.130 --> 01:02.880
    to learn both inside the classroom,

    01:02.880 --> 01:04.250
    outside the classroom

    01:04.250 --> 01:06.590
    from people who have spent their lives

    01:06.590 --> 01:09.570
    in both academia and
    in the business world,

    01:09.570 --> 01:13.000
    it's a great opportunity to
    have a well-rounded MBA program

    01:13.000 --> 01:14.900
    in just one additional year of school.
