The weekend will officially begin with a welcome reception on Friday evening. Detailed information including an updated schedule will be included in your re-confirmation packet. Shuttle service between the Hilton Garden Inn and the reception will be provided.
Friday activities
Our MBA students and program staff will be at the Hilton Garden Inn all day to greet you and answer questions. Stop by to pick up your registration packet and some Kelley swag. Join us for breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn for a chance to begin meeting some of your future classmates. Spouses/partners are also welcome to join.
We have left Friday open for you to explore housing options and Bloomington on your own, and we have plenty of suggestions for places to visit while you are getting to know Bloomington. The Bloomington Convention and Visitors Bureau is another great resource for information about local activities and attractions.
Saturday activities
The schedule includes a full day of activities and programs. The day will start at the Godfrey Center and conclude with a closing reception and dinner. Shuttle service will be provided.
Partners Club activities
Partners and significant others are welcome to join us for Kelley Experience Weekend. On Saturday, members of the Kelley Partners Club (KPC) will host events to introduce them to the life of an MBA partner. Spouses and partners are also welcome to attend the welcome reception Friday night and the closing dinner Saturday night. If you are interested in bringing a partner, significant other, or children, please provide their info on your registration form. You can learn more about the partners' club on our website or contact the KPC directly.
Travel plans and accommodations
We encourage you to arrive in Bloomington on Thursday evening to allow free time on Friday to explore Bloomington, campus, and housing options. The Kelley MBA Program will provide complimentary hotel accommodations at the Hilton Garden Inn from Thursday to Sunday. You do not need to contact the hotel; simply indicate your lodging preferences on the registration form for the weekend. To guarantee lodging availability, you must register by March 20.
In addition to providing complimentary hotel accommodations, the Kelley School will reimburse travel expenses up to $500 for admitted students who attend Kelley Experience Weekend. We can reimburse you for your airfare, rental car, gas (for rental car) or mileage (if you use your personal car), airport shuttle, parking, etc. We will not be able to reimburse food and beverage expenses or airfare for family members. To receive reimbursement, you must submit original receipts along with the reimbursement paperwork included in your confirmation packet by the deadline indicated on the forms. All receipts must show the name of the person requesting the reimbursement and the total amount paid. (Only expenses in the name of the admitted student will be reimbursed.)
The nearest airport to Bloomington is Indianapolis International Airport (IND). If you are flying into Indianapolis, we recommend the options below to get to Bloomington (about 50 miles/one hour southwest of Indianapolis). We do not recommend taxi/Uber/Lyft service from the airport, as it is very expensive given the distance.
Car rental: Most rental car agencies are represented at the Indianapolis International Airport. A rental car is strongly encouraged if you want to explore Bloomington and housing options.
Airport shuttle: GO Express Bloomington Shuttle operates between the airport and various locations within Bloomington, including the Hilton Garden Inn. For a daily schedule and rates, visit their website.
During your visit, parking is available at the Hilton Garden Inn. At the Kelley School, the Fee Lane Parking Garage (attached to the Godfrey Center) is available for your convenience. Parking is free after 5 p.m. on Friday and through Sunday evening. If you plan to visit the Kelley MBA Program prior to 5 p.m. on Friday, you may pick up a guest permit from the MBA Program Office in the Godfrey Center, Suite 2010. Detailed parking information will be included in your re-confirmation packet.
We want you to be comfortable during your campus visit. The dress for all events during Kelley Experience Weekend is business casual, and you may want to bring a jacket and an umbrella–weather in April can be unpredictable.
You will find a number of housing and relocation resources under the Living in Bloomington section of this site. We encourage you to research and schedule appointments during free time within your schedule before arriving in Bloomington. Friday is the best time for you to schedule appointments as many leasing offices may be closed on Sunday.
