Holden Conference in Finance and Real Estate

Call For Papers

The Finance Department at Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, invites submissions from all finance and real estate areas for presentation at the 3rd Holden Conference. We encourage theoretical and empirical contributions that have yet to appear at major Finance conferences. The 12 papers will be:

A novel format with two discussants per paper (an empiricist and a theorist).
Entered to win three prizes for best paper and best discussant sponsored by the Wharton Research Data Services ($1,000 each).
Dual Submission option with the Review of Corporate Finance Studies. This is a “no-fault” submission option. See the Society for Financial Studies dual submission policy for details.

Submissions

The submission fee is $75 (fees are waived for Ph.D. students).

The submission deadline is April 30, 2024, 11:59 pm ET. We will notify the authors of accepted papers by June 2024.

At the Conference

The program will start with a reception on the evening of September 12 and end with a morning session on September 14 and lunch. On September 13, attendees will dine at the clubhouse of Indiana University’s picturesque Pfau golf course where they can play a round of golf or hike on the rolling hills of nearby Griffy Lake to experience the famed fall foliage of Bloomington.

Funding

We will pay for hotel accommodation for 2 nights for all presenters. We hope that participants can use their research funds to travel to the conference.

Craig was passionate about mentoring PhD students and chaired or served as a member of dozens of dissertation committees during his career. Craig’s colleagues and former students have endowed a fellowship that is awarded to one finance PhD student at Indiana University each year.
