- Overview
- Over the past several years, the concept of a group of healthcare providers working together to oversee care for an assigned population, known as an Accountable Care Organization, has emerged as one of the potential tools to “bend the healthcare cost curve”. Accountable Care Organizations were included in the recent federal healthcare reform legislation as one of the vehicles to make Medicare more cost effective. While broad agreement generally exists on the principles of focus on primary care, payments linked to performance and quality improvements, and the use of rigorous and progressively more sophisticated measures to track improvement, many complex details need to be filled in to implement the legislation. This conference will update attendees on the latest in the associated regulations being issued by HHS, their likely impact, and the current status of ACOs in Indiana.
