Undergraduate Program
The Tools to Excel
Our Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting is perennially ranked one of the best programs in the nation. Under the guidance of our expert faculty, you will develop the tools for intelligent analysis, planning, control, and decision making—preparing you for a successful career, leadership positions, and graduate programs.
A Well-Rounded Curriculum
Our degree requirements cover a wide variety of topics, including auditing, taxation, and systems management. Accounting majors also take communication courses specifically designed to address the oral and written skills accounting professionals need in order to be effective team members and to serve clients well.
Because our curriculum is highly structured—many of the courses must be taken in a certain order—interested students should select this major as early as possible in order to insure timely graduation.
Internships
Internships in business or government are a great way to gain experience, learn about your future career, and make connections that can lead to a first job. Internships are available year-round, but fall is an ideal time to apply for one, as the majority of public accounting internships are offered during the spring semester. Undergraduate Career Services offers further information about internships.

Preparing for the CPA Exam
Accounting graduates who meet the requirements of the Indiana Board of Accountancy are eligible to sit for the Uniform CPA Examination in Indiana. Those who wish to engage in public accounting practice in Indiana as certified public accountants should familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations issued by the board. For example, most states (including Indiana) require prospective CPAs to complete 150 semester hours of education.
Kelley has two graduate accounting programs for students who wish to fulfill the education requirements necessary to sit for the CPA exam. Students planning to practice outside Indiana should consult the CPA board in their intended state of residence. Call (800) CPA-EXAM for additional information.
