Virtually all students admitted to the Kelley School’s doctoral programs are eligible to receive financial support upon request. This support takes several forms:
- fee remissions
- teaching appointments
- research appointments
- fellowships
Through research and teaching appointments, the Kelley School typically provides at least four years of 12-month stipends to PhD students who are making satisfactory progress toward their degrees. These appointments enable students to pursue their doctoral degrees without interruption.
In addition, the Kelley School and the Department of Operations and Decision Technologies (ODT) annually award a number of fellowships to outstanding doctoral candidates. These are typically awarded in addition to the normal stipends and fee remissions. The Kelley School and the ODT department also cover travel expenses when doctoral students take part in activities such as attending professional meetings or presenting competitive research papers. Students are also encouraged to pursue the fellowships and awards offered for all IU doctoral students.
