The “Innovations to Tackle Global Sustainability Challenges” Conference

The “Innovations to Tackle Global Sustainability Challenges” Conference was hosted at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in collaboration with the Centers for International Business Education and Research at Indiana University, The George Washington University, and Georgia Institute of Technology on May 16 to 17, 2025.

Conference overview

The purpose of the “Innovations to Tackle Global Sustainability Challenges” conference is to bring together leading scholars from around the world to share research on emerging concepts, themes, and methodologies related to global sustainability. By forming a vibrant, collaborative community of sustainability researchers, the conference aims to:

  • Strengthen international business scholarship in sustainability-related research
  • Foster thought-provoking interdisciplinary dialogue
  • Facilitate engagement between scholars and society, including practitioners and educators
  • Contribute cutting-edge insights toward addressing global sustainability challenges

More than 50 scholars from 22 institutions across four countries attended the third biennial conference, held on May 16 and 17 at Indiana University Bloomington. The event was hosted by the Kelley School of Business in collaboration with the Centers for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at Indiana University, The George Washington University, and the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Paper presentations and panels focused on:

  • Corporate sustainability strategy in a deglobalizing world
  • Addressing classic and emerging grand challenges
  • Navigating sustainability in global supply chains
  • Bridging boundaries: Exchanging ideas for interdisciplinary sustainability breakthroughs
  • Impact and advantage in an uncertain world
  • Just energy transition and climate change: A Southern Africa perspective
