Dana Olsen is currently a Senior Lecturer teaching retail marketing classes at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. Dana has previously taught in the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design for 6 years as a Merchandising Lecturer teaching multiple classes such as Introduction to Merchandising, Planning & Analysis, Internship in Professional Practice, Holistic Merchandise Planning, Virtual Retail Externship among others. Her interests include retail buying and planning, experiential learning, and industry and alumni engagement. Dana was the Co-Director for the Center for Innovative Merchandising as well as the Faculty Co-Advisor for the Retail Studies Organization (over 400 student members) and the National Retail Federation Student Association on campus.

Prior to teaching at Indiana University, Dana worked in the retail industry, mostly in the Bloomingdale’s corporate office in New York City. Her professional career has included both buying and planning roles with experience in different families of business (beauty, home, fashion accessories etc.), in stores as well as online and omnichannel. Dana is an alum of Indiana University having majored in Apparel Merchandising (BS) and minored in Business and Psychology in 2005 and is excited to continue to mentor students who aspire to work in the retail industry.
