Ann Bastianelli is Teaching Professor of Marketing at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and a global authority on advertising and personal branding. She is also managing director of Anthology Consulting, where her key platforms of expertise include personal productivity, business strategy, and marketing communications. The author of five books, including “The Marketing Communications Toolbox,” adopted for use in several top-ranked business schools, Ann has also edited two best-selling mainstream business books: ‘Business Plans for Dummies and ‘Strategic Planning for Dummies.’ Her TED Talk on Powerful Personal Branding has 360,000 views and has become a popular mainstay within employee training programs at PNC Bank and Target Corporation, among others.
Ann has held a variety of marketing leadership positions in client and agency organizations, working on behalf of Leo Burnett, McDonald’s, Kraft, Dow, and Hillenbrand Industries. Her career has placed her at the epicenter of groundbreaking advertising, including McDonald’s Happy Meals, Two Scoops of Raisins for Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, and Scrubbing Bubbles for Dow Bathroom Cleaner. Because these marketing strategies tapped into deep and enduring consumer beliefs and desires, they have remained effective for decades, earning hundreds of millions of dollars of revenue for those companies. Ann’s last position before joining the Kelley faculty was as Chief Innovation Officer for Batesville Casket Company. In that role, she earned a US Patent on her original framework for defining the meaning of life for each individual and transforming that insight into meaningful life celebrations. Her patented framework transformed the deathcare industry, becoming the global standard for end-of-life planning. Ann is regularly quoted in the press, including the Wall Street Journal and New York Times, among others.
