BUS-F 560 Value Fund
- 7 weeks
- 1.5 credits
- Prerequisite(s): None
Using a variety of resources including the text, in-class discussion of present day events/activities, and practitioner presentations, we will introduce and apply the concepts and framework of “value investing”. This investment style was popularized by Benjamin Graham and David Dodd in their timeless 1930s body of work, Security Analysis, adapting the ideas to the current investment environment. In addition, with a $100,000 portfolio currently in trust with Merrill Lynch of Miami, and overseen by Louis J. Chiavacci, Sr. Vice President, Private Wealth Management, class members will identify, analyze, and pitch recommendations to the Value Fund investment committee made up of Mr. Chiavacci, faculty members, and former Value Fund class members, for use in discretionary directing of the funds’ assets.
