Financial Accounting Concepts is appropriate for MBA students with a serious interest in learning about accounting for equity side transactions and cash flows. This course is a prerequisite for students wishing to take A564, Detecting Earnings Management.
A540 is designed to provide a framework of concepts and procedures essential for the preparation of general purpose financial statements directed toward external users (e.g., stockholders, potential investors, creditors, regulatory agencies, etc.). The topics listed below are among the most important, interesting, complex, and controversial in the accounting discipline. A serious effort will be required to achieve technical and conceptual competence in these areas. Many of these topics appear regularly on the CPA and CFA exams.
