The modern organization demands more from individuals than ever before, including the ability to lead and motivate oneself. As a result, many leaders partner with executive coaches in their professional lives. This course will cover similar content and concepts that a professional coach would use with a practicing executive. Self-leadership is about being honest with yourself and living intentionally, driven by an inspirational vision that only you can create. When you lead yourself intentionally, you align your actions with your values, become more aware of your life choices, and become more coachable by yourself and others as you progress in life.
This course will explore several practices and concepts that will help you build on your self-knowledge, including purpose, values, meaning, goal setting, personal vision, vulnerability, emotional regulation, and self-coaching. While much of the work is self-directed, there is a highly social component to our class through online discussion boards. You should be prepared to discuss and share how the concepts apply to you with your classmates, as this will be part of the overall evaluation.
