Dr. Escobar Salazar is a professor at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. In 2022, Dr. Escobar Salazar earned a Ph.D. in Communication Theories and Research from the College of Communication at Florida State University with a certificate in Health Communication. In 2018, she finished her Master's in Integrated Marketing Communication with a certificate in Multicultural Marketing at Florida State University. She graduated in Colombia with her Bachelor's in Mass Communication and Journalism in 2012.

While at Florida State University, Dr. Escobar Salazar taught courses in Hispanic Marketing, Health Communication, Public Relations, Public Speaking, Media, Sports, and Society, among other topics. Dr. Escobar Salazar's research is especially relevant in the field of Sports, Marketing, and Communication. Her research agenda emphasizes the mediation of gender, ethnicity in sports media, advertising strategies on Latino consumers, and social perceptions in social media.

In 2020 and 2021, she collaborated on two journal submissions. The first study examined the reduction of mental health stigma through video game characters with mental illness, and the second study examined the rush to return to sports events during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Dr. Escobar Salazar was a Proofreader in the Journal of Communication Technology (JOCTEC). Now, she is working on editing a book on Sports Communication and Olympic Media while also publishing her doctorate dissertation and Master's thesis, among other research studies related to Nike, ESPN, and social media.

Dr. Escobar Salazar has presented her research work in Communication and Marketing at National and International conferences (e.g., national conferences: NCA, AMTP, HCB3, DCHC, AEJMC, NAAAS, Hispanic/Latino Media and Marketing Conference, Bilingualism in the Hispanic and Lusophone World Conference. International conferences: ICA, IAMCR, and ALAIC).

She is the IDEA Chair Communication and Sport Division (NCA), Award Committee Member of the Communication and Sport Division (NCA), Second Vice Chair of the Women's Caucus (NCA), a member of FELAFACS, and a member of the Preconference in Media Communication in Global Latinidades (ICA). Dr. Escobar Salazar volunteers as Co-Chair Client Case Committee at the Kelley School of Business (IU), as a member of the Indiana University at the Kelley School of Business Diversity Equity and Inclusion (IU), and as a member of the Intercultural Business Communication and Professional Skills Interest Group in Indiana University.

Dr. Escobar Salazar looks forward to sharing her work with students and scholars at Indiana University and learning about research and publishing opportunities for which her expertise can be of value.
