180 Degrees Consulting
Work with a team of students over a semester to develop business recommendations for socially-minded nonprofits. You'll gain real consulting experience and have the opportunity to improve the effectiveness of worthwhile organizations.
Alternative Break Program
Participate in domestic or international travel experiences that involve working directly with community leaders and organizations to learn about and address social issues. Previous projects include addressing food insecurity in New York, partnering with Hunger Free America, and collaborating with local businesses in Guatemala to explore microfinance.
BinaryHeart
BinaryHeart is a student-led nonprofit that refurbishes donated computers and provides them to individuals and organizations in need. By joining, students gain hands-on experience in tech repair, nonprofit operations, and community impact while helping bridge the digital divide.
Global Business Brigades
Apply your business skills to support entrepreneurs in underserved communities through virtual and international consulting engagements. You’ll gain hands-on experience in financial analysis, market research, growth strategy, marketing, and client communication through workshops, professional speakers, and live client work.
Civic Leadership Development
Get involved in Bloomington community service projects and gain awareness of local social challenges. CLD is where Kelley’s social impact roots started nearly 30 years ago. There are now partnerships with 30 area nonprofits.
Net Impact
Drive social and environmental change, starting on the IU campus. Net Impact is a national organization that empowers and educates students to channel their passion for change into action in areas such as social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and corporate leadership.
Social Engagement and Education at Kelley (SEEK)
Explore the intersection between business and social responsibility. SEEK offers a variety of events and opportunities for you to learn how to build and apply your skills to make an impact in your community.
Sustainable Finance Club
Learn about the junction between finance and sustainability in the professional world. The Sustainable Finance Club offers members the opportunity to hear from industry professionals, engage in hands-on activities, and learn how to create a better world through finance.
Trockman Microfinance Initiative
Learn about microfinance and techniques for alleviating poverty. Through this initiative, you can participate in case competitions, attend talks from leading experts, and visit microfinance institutions around the world.

To become an official KISI organization, groups must successfully navigate three levels of self-governing student organization requirements:
- The organization must register with the campus through beINvolved.
- Once approved by IU, you must apply to become an approved Kelley student organization and meet with the Kelley Undergraduate Student Organization Review Committee. For more details, explore our Student Organizations resources page.
- KISI must approve a request for KISI affiliation for our specialized subset of organizations dedicated to business and positive social change. Please email kisi@iu.edu for more information.
- Professional advising: Each organization is assigned a KISI staff member as a dedicated advisor; advising is a formal part of these staff members' official job descriptions.
- Leadership development: Access to the KISI Advisory Council (KAC), a consistent community of peers that meets bi-weekly for professional development and collaborative brainstorming.
- Collective staff expertise: While each group has one primary advisor, all KISI staff members attend KISI Advisory Council meetings, giving organizations direct access to the full team’s professional insight.
- Marketing and funding: Leverage prioritized features in the KISI newsletter and social media, community through the KISI Marketing Council, various highlights on the KISI website, and eligibility for KISI-specific funding support.
- Collaborative impact: Facilitated partnerships with other KISI organizations and initiatives.
- Accountability: Maintain good standing with Kelley Student Government (KSG) and Indiana University Student Involvement and Leadership (SILC).
- KISI Advisory Council participation: Mandatory attendance at bi-weekly KAC meetings and regular communication with KISI advisors.
- Data reporting: Submit comprehensive organizational data, including membership rosters and event attendance to KISI on a semester basis.
- Active recruitment: Represent KISI at key events during Open for Business (i.e., KISI Coffee Kickoff and Social Impact Night).
