Schedule a session to discuss starting a new student organization, registration, event funding, and more.
Before applying to become a Kelley student organization, you must first be registered with IU. To be a registered student organization at Indiana University Bloomington, your organization must:
Self-Governed Student Organizations are responsible for providing proof of the completion of requirements to Student Involvement and Leadership before they can be registered. Additionally, the organization must provide proof of the completion of requirements before they can renew their organization’s registration in subsequent years.
Any organization seeking Kelley student organization status must first be a registered IU student organization through beINvolved, then apply to receive Kelley status. Kelley Student Life requires student organizations to complete these additional steps to remain in good standing.
Before you apply, double-check that your organization meets all the foundational requirements listed at the top of the application form. Once you’ve confirmed, complete and submit. Questions about the process? Contact ksengage@iu.edu.
All Kelley Student Organizations (KSOs) must meet Kelley Student Government (KSG) and Kelley Student Life requirements. Attending Kelley Leadership Summit (KLS) each semester, completing the Kelley Student Life office renewal, finishing the KSG audit, and lastly, attending REACH sessions are the bare requirements to keep KSO status. All KSOs must be active IU organizations.
The deadlines are March 1, July 1, and November 1. Groups must be active for three months before applying.
When a group that has been approved by the SILC has been active for three months, the group can fill out a Kelley Student Organization Application on Kelley’s Student Life website. Once the deadline passes, the associate director of Student Life will reach out to each group to set up a time for the group to present to the KSO Committee. The KSO Committee is made up of Student Life staff, a KSG faculty representative, and KSG students. After the presentation, the group will be made aware of the committee’s decision. Any group that is denied may apply again.
Each semester, KSG will set a date for Kelley Leadership Summit and communicate the date via email and GroupMe to all KSO presidents. If a president cannot attend, the KSO must inform KSG as to why, and send a delegate in their place.
REACH, or Resources, Education, and Campus How-Tos, empowers student leaders to effectively lead a student organization, work collaboratively with a team, fund their organization, plan strategically, and more. Explore the wide variety of REACH presentations, categorized into topics around leadership, service, financial considerations, organizational recruitment, and social justice.
Yes, and it is encouraged! Email ksg@iu.edu to get more information about KSO organization delegates.
Spread the word about your organization’s events. You can submit an announcement to be included in the Kelley Insider newsletter, publicized on Hodge Hall flat screens, and posted on social media.
Kelley Student Government (KSG) is the official funding board for Kelley student organizations. They review requests and provide funding to assist student organizations that are improving the student experience. Any Kelley-approved organization that is in good standing with Kelley Student Government may apply. If you have questions, contact ksgfund@iu.edu.
