Kelley’s Retail Workshop, overseen by Director Theresa Williams, PhD, offers students deep immersion into the corporate retail industry and highlights the potential career choices for future retail professionals.
The workshop has close ties with many retail giants including Macy’s, Kohl’s, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Students get to meet face-to-face with recruiters and senior leaders from these companies and more to learn about industry practices and life as an assistant buyer, merchandise planner, or merchandise analyst, the three most common entry-level jobs in the industry. Students accepted into the Retail Workshop are highly encouraged to also take BUS-M 455 Retail Merchandising. Completing these two courses will fully prepare Kelley students to be competitive for retailing internships.
Members of the Retail Workshop take the following courses:
BUS-M 349 Retail Workshop (3.0 credits)
BUS-M 455 Retail Merchandising (1.5 credits)
BUS-M 414 Retail Analytics (1.5 credits)
BUS-M 450 Marketing Strategy (3.0 credits)
