    No business background? No problem.

No matter your background or major, there’s a place for you at Kelley. By following our recommendations by your year, students without an undergraduate business degree can successfully transition into graduate studies.

Consider taking introductory courses in accounting, economics, and statistics. Students from all majors that are intersted in accounting may also consider the Kelley Accounting Certficate or Accounting Bridge Program to strengthen their business knowledge early. Completion of the cetificate will fulfill all prerequisite coursework for the MS in Accounting with Data and Analytics program.

Regardless of industry, internships are highly encouraged during these years as they provide valuable hands-on experience and strengthen resumes. Students are encouraged to enroll in electives such as law, financial management, and data analytics when possible.

Business Foundations is a graduate-level, for-credit course designed for students without an undergraduate background in business who are preparing to enter an on-campus specialized master's program. The course introduces essential business concepts, terminology needed for success in advanced coursework, and supports a smooth transition into graduate business studies. Students pursuing online master's programs are not required to complete Business Foundations.
