Description of the video:
I'm actually trained in Food Science and Technologies. The mission of NamZ and WhatIF Foods is to create foods that are nourishing for you and for the planet, as well as uplifting and benefiting the farming communities that grow them all at the same time.
Eventually as the business grew, I would be able to bring more value if I understood more of the business aspects of the company. When I found out about the Kelley–Manchester Global MBA, I was very attracted to the blended learning approach, the idea that I will be exposed to two different educational systems, as well as two different alumni networks.
I wanted to kind of do my MBA part-time and apply in real-time to whatever I was learning in my day-to-day work. So I had to be able to grasp financial concepts, run forecasts, discounted cash flows, financial management, strategic financial analysis. These tools were provided to me through the course of the MBA.
I did the MBA really to better equip myself to move into roles that had greater responsibility within the organization, that make a deeper impact, and influence the future direction of the company.
The MBA, it changed my life, allowing me to be exposed to be so much more, equipping me with the right tools to understand the depth of the decisions being discussed. All of this combined opened the doors to being able to take on greater responsibility at work and a greater appreciation of what a business needs to survive in a difficult time, and to grow despite the difficult time.
So, I guess if I look at myself in 2017 and I look at myself today, I think that today I'm better positioned to make sense of the complex food ecosystem and how it is working in the complex, and uncertain world that we live in. And hopefully, through all this, I would be able to help bring out better food to people and a better planet for generations to come.

Lauren Smith, Manager, Franchise Performance, Burger King Corporation; Kelley–Manchester Global MBA student:
My goal in the corporate world was always to find something unique for me. I knew that a nine-to-five desk job was not something that made me want to wake up in the morning. I really wanted a global education, but I also wanted an education that was rooted in the US as well.
What I appreciate about the program itself is, we have an opportunity to network all across several different learning centers in the US and the UK and all over the world, and so it was such a unique fit to find the Kelley–Manchester program because I knew immediately that it was not only, sort of, an uncommon way to do education, but also an additional challenge because you're dealing with multiple cultures, a variety of educational viewpoints and it was something immediately that I knew I was getting so much context and so much culture in one program that fit seamlessly together.
One of the reasons I chose the program is because I knew I needed to work. I didn't want to go to a traditional two-year MBA program where I sort of dropped off the face of the workforce. So right now I work for Burger King Corporate. I partner with franchisees who own Burger King corporations and so I work specifically with their leadership team to ensure that all of the operational aspects of the business are covered.
I also run a freelance wedding photography company and so it's something that I feel like I have a little bit of creative energy in my system. I was a little concerned at the beginning that I wouldn't be able to manage a corporate job, I wouldn't be able to manage a photography business. But I was able to sort of move my schedule around to enable me to really focus on my coursework when I had ample time to do so and just continue to take a little bit of a lighter load when I knew that I had requirements at work, or I had requirements in my photography business.
My personal life feels who I am as a professional. I have always been someone who's tried to achieve many things and this program drives me to achieve something a little bit more. I would label myself as a go-getter and so, this program just continues to validate that for me while also really holding me accountable to how I prioritize my life and my day. But, one thing that I would say is the Kelley–Manchester program is changing how I look at my future.

Andrew Carlsgaard, Senior Financial Analyst, IU Health; Kelley–Manchester Global MBA student:
The reason I really wanted to be part of the Kelley–Manchester program was that opportunity to continuously learn while working, and apply some of those skills on the job. That's probably the most important part of what we've been able to learn here, is just how to think differently about our organization and the things that we do in order to help make our processes better.
I work at Indiana University Health in the financial services area. So what we do is basically take care of all of the accounting, finance, reporting, budgeting for all of the different hospitals and help them solve their business problems, and work through any issues that they're having.
The skills that I've been able to learn through the Kelley–Manchester program really helped me think about how I can apply more of a strategic viewpoint. I feel it's really increased my confidence not only in knowing my role in the organization, but knowing how the organization functions outside of my area. Kelley–Manchester was a perfect fit because not only did it allow me to keep working while I was earning the MBA, but it also allowed us to travel and do these workshops abroad to really get a lot of the learning from a global perspective.
I think it's been very eye-opening to see some of the differences culturally and how that affects business relationships, and how that really drives the global economy. I think that's something that's really important to learn, and it's just changed my perspective. I feel like I'm able to really bring a lot of that into what I'm doing right now. The program's just gone by so fast because it's been really enjoyable. I'm excited to see where it goes next, and at times it hasn't been easy, especially when life throws things your way, but I have learned a lot from it.
