In her role as lecturer, Michelle Shaw brings nineteen years of direct B2B sales, sales management, channel management, international business, and consulting experience to her students at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. Prior to joining Kelley, Michelle was a full-time undergraduate instructor and an adjunct graduate faculty member at Ball State University.
As part of the Kelley School of Business, Michelle has the distinct pleasure of teaching her passion for sales and marketing. Michelle’s philosophy is that education leads to opportunity and freedom, which makes the future of our world a better place; this is the primary reason she is passionate about teaching. Her belief is that teaching is similar to sales; teachers are here to serve, to develop, to lead, and to help others. Every student has ability, and the teacher has the good fortune and opportunity to guide students to learn and to discover their potential.
Prior to Kelley, and while working at Ball State, Michelle worked as an IT and Financial Consultant at a boutique consulting firm called Luetschine Consulting. Prior to Luetschine Consulting and Ball State, Michelle worked in senior global sales roles at AT&T and Orange Business Services. During her sales career, Michelle managed larger global clients, including Aon, Walgreens, Abbott Laboratories, MasterCard, and Sprint. Michelle’s sales experience crossed multiple areas of sales expertise including direct sales, sales management, international sales, and channel management. Michelle was honored with several awards over the years, including multiple Gold Club, Leader's Council, and President’s Club awards.
Michelle and her husband, Sean, currently own their own consulting firm called Trust EQuity Consulting. This "side hustle" business helps others achieve success and happiness through personal understanding and emotional intelligence by leveraging CliftonStrengths Assessment (StrengthsFinder), Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®), The Strong Interest Inventory®, and Positive Psychology.
Michelle received a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications, Sales & Promotion, from Ball State in 1999, and completed a Master of Science Degree at The Center for Information and Communication Sciences at Ball State in 2000. And, she holds certifications in Positive Psychology and Career Coaching, which she finds quite useful for mentoring and developing students.
