Topic: Financial Diversity Program

In this course, students will explore the scope and nature of financial services providers and corporate finance divisions, including investment banks, “buy-side” funds, depository institutions, wealth management providers, corporate development, treasury and financial planning and analysis divisions, and others. This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of the aforementioned business models, as well as the benefits and considerations of pursuing a career in these fields. Perhaps more importantly, student should expect to become acquainted with the “soft side” of finance, specifically how to build and maintain relationships. Students will learn through their time in the Finance Diversity Program that finance is social and team-focused. To approach this, students will be encouraged to interact with peers, older students, faculty, and alumni to explore their professional and academic aspirations while developing a personal support network.
Topic: Introduction to Financial Careers and Concepts

Designed primarily for freshmen who want to learn about the full spectrum of careers available in finance and real estate and about basic finance concepts. Covers the financial services industry, real estate, corporate finance, financial planning, etc. This course is required in order to apply for all finance department workshops.
