BUKD-X 798 Doctoral Thesis Development (EDBA)
- 12 weeks
- 3.00 credits
- Prerequisite(s): Kelley Direct Online Executive Doctor of Business Administration (EDBA) students only
This course is designed to provide EDBA students with a structured, hands-on approach to developing the foundational elements of their doctoral thesis. Throughout the course, students will engage in an iterative process that moves from initial thesis topic selection through to developing a well-rounded, initial draft of a research proposal for their doctoral thesis. The course emphasizes practical, step-by-step exercises and guidance to ensure that students are prepared to develop their thesis with clarity and confidence.
Students will begin by exploring potential research topics aligned with their professional and academic interests, with a focus on identifying areas that contribute to the advancement of business practice and theory. They will then dive into conducting a comprehensive literature review aimed at understanding the current state of research in their chosen field and identifying practical knowledge gaps that their thesis can address. From this, students craft a precise, well-defined research question that is both impactful and feasible within the scope of their doctoral work. Once the research question is established, students will work on developing a robust approach and selecting appropriate research methodologies to address their research question, balancing academic rigor with practical relevance.
The course structure combines group discussions, individual assignments, and peer feedback sessions, ensuring structured guidance to help each student advance in their thesis journey. This course serves as the foundational building block for completing the EDBA thesis.
