A continual infusion of new ideas and new energies is the nuclei of economic growth. Entrepreneurs and their new ventures are of vital importance in this process of economic revitalization throughout the world. The purpose of this course is to introduce MBA students to the general theories, principles, concepts, and practices of entrepreneurship. Concentrating in the development of “entrepreneurial leadership” this course attempts to prepare MBA students in avoiding or (at least) realizing the pitfalls of new venture initiation, whether outside or inside of an organization. The idea is to present and study through lecture, readings, case study and a research project, the demands placed upon today's entrepreneurs. It is assumed students are interested in the Entrepreneurship field and are completing their course progression of the MBA degree at the Kelley School of Business. Entrepreneurship: Leadership & Practice is the first course in a specifically designed graduate curriculum geared towards potential entrepreneurs and corporate innovators. This course seeks to develop students’ appreciation and respect for the problems - foreseeable and unforeseeable - that face the potential entrepreneur. This understanding promotes the chances of entrepreneurial success through a disintegration of entrepreneurial failure and development of true "entrepreneurial leadership."
