Global Social Entrepreneurship

The Global Social Entrepreneurship Institute is a collaboration between the Institute for International Business and the U.S. Department of State. This multifaceted, immersive program gives selected undergraduate college students from 13 European nations the opportunity to:

  • Learn about and gain practical experience with social entrepreneurship and basic business skills.
  • Gain an introduction to American business practices in the context of American culture.

The program is interactive, experiential, and packed with classroom instruction, panel discussions, business visits, and volunteer opportunities. All of these activities support student work on:

  • An individual project.
  • A team project with an existing Bloomington-based nonprofit.

While spending time on the Indiana University Bloomington campus, students should be prepared to be busy, work hard, and have a lot of fun. They will have the opportunity to join in the celebration of American Independence Day and observe the local parade and fireworks display as well as a variety of other leisure activities such as movies, games, karaoke nights, and visits to the IU student recreation facilities. More than a cultural exchange program, students can expect a rigorous academic institute that will prepare them to employ entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to address social issues in their home countries.
