Dr. Carolyn Goerner is the director of Executive Education Programs at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and is the John D. Long Distinguished Fellow for KEEP Leadership. She joined the Kelley faculty in 2000 after receiving her PhD in management and human resources at The Ohio State University. Carolyn was a human resource management consultant for 10 years prior to graduate school.

Since joining IU, Carolyn has designed and delivered a variety of courses to executive, graduate, and undergraduate student audiences. She is also a LinkedIn Learning author of eleven courses including Overcoming Imposter Syndrome, Empathy at Work, and Advanced Negotiation Strategies; her courses have been viewed by over a million people. Carolyn has received IU’s highest teaching honors, including the Trustees Teaching Award and the Alumni Association Student Choice Award.

Carolyn is passionate about live theatre, IU Football, IU Women’s Basketball, Indy car racing, and the Green Bay Packers. She lives in Greenwood, Indiana, with her husband Peter and their dogs, Charlotte and Etta.

Chuck Black is the associate director of business development for Indiana University Kelley Executive Education Programs. Chuck has a distinguished career of 30+ years with extensive background in designing and managing corporate and university-based executive learning and development programs and experiences.

Before joining Kelley, Chuck spent 11 years at Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. As Weatherhead’s senior director of custom corporate solutions, he oversaw the custom program portfolio while also leading teams responsible for open enrollment subscriptions, executive coaching, and premier cohort-based signature programs. Additionally, Chuck serves as adjunct faculty, teaching Communicating and Connecting through Storytelling to senior management majors at Weatherhead.

Prior to his positions at Weatherhead, Chuck was also founder and CEO of an education and training firm focused on systems development lifecycles, project management, software requirements definition, business analysis, enterprise architecture, and IT decision frameworks for Fortune 1000 companies. He also served as director of education for an international association for IT executives.

Chuck holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication and a Master of Arts in Organizational Communication from Ohio University.

Hannah Burcham is the assistant director of admissions for Kelley Executive Education Programs. Before coming to KEEP, she worked for five years in the graduate admissions office at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. She completed her undergraduate degree at IU Southeast and obtained a BS in Business by triple majoring in human resource management, business management, and marketing. Hannah continued her studies at IU Bloomington and received a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and Student Affairs as well as an MS in Education with a focus on adult education.

Mark Corbin

Director of Kelley Executive Education Programs

Mark Corbin is the director of Kelley Executive Education Programs and a visiting lecturer with Kelley’s Department of Management and Entrepreneurship. Before starting as a lecturer, Mark served as the director of financial analysis for the Kelley School for three years.

Before joining IU, he held finance and accounting roles at UPS, Aramark, and Circle K convenience stores. Prior to accepting his position with Kelley, he spent 12 years as the finance director for the Midwest Circle K Division. In addition to working for the college, his family owns and operates a wedding barn and event center in Elizabethtown, Indiana.

Mark earned a BS in Business with an accounting major from IU Indianapolis and holds an MBA from the University of Indianapolis.

Dena Fleener

Dena Fleener has managed a variety of clients in both the private and public sectors, specializing in client support and program implementation. Dena is also an experienced instructor in professional education courses, and has a deep appreciation for the benefits afforded by continuing education and professional development. Dena earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Indianapolis and master’s degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. A lifelong Hoosier, Dena enjoys writing, spending time with her family, and rescuing beagles.

Kim Goad

Director of Business Development

Kim Goad is the director of business development of Executive Education at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.

Previously, she was director of career development for Butler University’s Lacy School of Business, where she oversaw the design and delivery of the four-year career development program, employer relations, and career advising to achieve a year-over-year 99% placement rate. She also led students on experiential learning trips and taught Organizational Behavior and a UK-based management course, Leadership London.

Kim has over two decades of industry experience in strategy, marketing, operations, and development with clients in a variety of industries including pharmaceuticals, consumer packaged goods, durable goods, and telecommunications. Among her corporate experience, she led a team that earned Bristol Myers Squibb’s Supplier Innovation Award for six-figure cost savings.

She has spoken on topics such as leadership, delivering feedback, team building, attracting and retaining talent, and managing multiple generations in the workplace. She is also co-author of One Girl Can Change the World (Standard Publishing, 2009), a book that guides teen girls to discover and pursue their purpose.

Kim earned her undergraduate degree from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business and her MS from the Indiana University School of Education. She is certified in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® and DiSC® assessments. Her mission is to use her experience and skills to help organizations and individuals reach their potential.

Ray Luther

Executive Coaching Practice Leader

Ray Luther, PCC, is the executive director of the Partnership for Coaching Excellence and Personal Leadership at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. Previously, he was the executive director of the Full-Time MBA Program at Kelley. Ray is also the co-director of the Kelley Consumer Marketing Academy, and is a founder and co-director of the Kelley MBA Leadership Academy.

Ray’s work experience spans a 20+ year career with executive team leadership, strategy, branding, market research, innovation, change management, and operations. Prior to his time at Kelley, Ray worked at Procter & Gamble as a director in the Health Care Business Unit across the pharmaceutical and OTC medicine categories. Ray served as a US Army Officer in the 3rd Infantry Division where he was in line roles as a platoon leader and company executive officer in the Medical Service Corps.

Ray was a lead designer and founding member of the Kelley MBA Me, Inc. career management course and has personally coached hundreds of students while at Kelley. He coaches MBA students on the practice of leadership, strategic visioning, and coaching others for high performance. Ray teaches leadership coaching through Executive Education to a number of corporate clients. He has also developed and taught leadership courses along with leadership coaching to a number of corporate clients, including Cummins, OneAmerica, and the NFL Players Association, among others.

Ray holds a BS and MBA from Indiana University, was a distinguished military graduate, and is also a certified Hudson Institute coach.

Laura Nicholson

Before joining the Executive Education team, Laura Nicholson worked with MBA students as an associate director of the Business Marketing Academy. Laura handled event and program planning for the BMA.

Laura earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. She has lived in Bloomington for 19 years, has three children and two dogs, and loves to be outdoors.

Kelsey Oard

Kelsey Oard brings almost 10 years of Kelley School experience to her role with Executive Education. She was most recently a project manager in the Kelley School of Business dean’s office, focusing on special events for the school and the management of school rankings. Kelsey managed a wide portfolio of programs and events for faculty and staff as well as large conferences.

Kelsey earned her bachelor's degree in business administration and human resources from Oakland City University. She was also a member of the women’s golf team there. Born and raised in Bloomington, she attended Bloomington High School North, where she met her husband on the golf course. She has two young children and loves to be outdoors, to be with her family and friends, and to go Jeeping and golfing.

Rob Sands

Prior to joining Kelley Executive Education Programs, Rob graduated from IU’s O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs with a degree in public finance. He also spent time at Ivy Tech Bloomington, earning an associate’s degree in accounting. He brings prior accounting experience from his family’s local construction company and various freelance work.

Rob grew up in the Bloomington area and attended high school in the area as well. When not laboring over Excel spreadsheets, you’ll likely find him spending time with his family, playing golf, or watching any sport he can get his hands on.

George is the director of Business Development, Life Sciences, within Kelley's Executive Education Programs, and also holds the position of director at the Center for the Business of Life Sciences at the Kelley School of Business.

George is also the faculty chair for the Executive Certificate in the Business of Life Sciences and teaches The Value Chain in Healthcare course in the program. Additionally, he assists with the development of custom education programs for life sciences industry partners.

As center director, George coordinates and teaches three courses in the business of life sciences for MBAs and graduate science and informatics students, organizes three Life Sciences Collaboration Conferences each academic year to support the growth of the life sciences industry in the state and the region, and chairs the school’s Life Sciences Industry Advisory Board.

Prior to joining Kelley, George worked for over twenty years in the medical products industry. He was employed by Baxter Healthcare, Johnson & Johnson, and Boston Scientific in various operations and strategic planning roles in the IV solutions, kidney dialysis, stainless steel instrument, gauze dressing, and urology and endoscopy businesses. These roles included multiplant management and oversight of several large capital projects in the United States, Puerto Rico, Spain, Malta, Ireland, and Singapore as well as negotiating agreements with suppliers in Hungary, Germany, and Russia. Early in his career, while serving in an analyst role, he was also involved in the integration of American Hospital Supply Corporation’s plants into the Baxter manufacturing network after its acquisition by Baxter.

George obtained his BS in General Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point. After graduation from West Point, he served on active duty in the US Army for five years with the 101st Airborne Division and the Military Entrance Processing Command. Upon his departure from active duty, he attended the Booth Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago where he obtained his MBA in Production/Operations Management.

Aaron rejoins Indiana University after spending 10 seasons with the Indiana Pacers Basketball Operations department, where he performed a variety of administrative tasks for the team and leadership executives. Prior to the Pacers, Aaron served on the men’s basketball staff at IU in a video coordinator role for five seasons under coach Tom Crean and staff.

Aaron attended IU Bloomington where he received a BS in Sport Communications in 2012 and an MS in Sport Management in 2013. He grew up in the Kokomo area and attended Western High School. His family now resides in Rochester, where he enjoys spending time with family and friends on the lake.

Born and raised in Bloomington, Madison graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 2019. Before coming to KEEP, Madison worked for a local nonprofit as their outreach director.

Madison has planned and executed a variety of events and maintained quality relationships with many community organizations and its members.

She loves spending time with her family and friends, staying active, and cooking!
