    Leading with AI: Negotiation

    AI is transforming how leaders prepare for and perform in complex discussions. This professional development program blends negotiation skills in business with applied AI practice, showing you how to clarify objectives, anticipate moves, and communicate with confidence.

    This AI learning course teaches you how to use artificial intelligence as a negotiation partner: testing assumptions, refining offers, improving communication and negotiation skills, and rehearsing difficult scenarios without losing the human judgment that drives lasting results.

    Hybrid course schedule

    September 3: Self-paced, online GenAI 101
    September 10: In person in Indianapolis, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    September 17: Live virtual, 1 to 3:30 p.m.
    September 24: Submit project for digital badge (optional)
    Fee: $1,495 per person (IU alumni, IU staff, and team discounts available)

    Learning objectives

    By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

    • Clarify key interests: Identify core priorities for your firm that must be protected and areas open to trade.
    • Build strong positions: Define best alternative to a negotiated agreement (BATNA), reservation price, and credible aspirations for every negotiation.
    • Identify areas for growth: Diagnose value-creation opportunities and structure multistep bargaining.
    • Prepare for hard counters: Handle concessions, deadlocks, multiparty dynamics, and power imbalances effectively.
    • Use AI as a negotiation partner: Leverage generative AI tools and strategic negotiation skills to simulate counterpart styles, pressure-test tactics, and rehearse dialogue within safe, ethical boundaries.

    Asynchronous, online introduction to the course, including short pre-reading assignments and an overview of GenAI

    Hands-on practice and peer discussion; one day, in person (Indianapolis)

    Use case clinic: 2.5 hours of live, online, instructor-led training

    • Format: Combination of asynchronous online, live online, and in-person classes
    • Schedule: September 3 to 24; in person in Indianapolis on September 10, live online on September 17 from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
    • Discounts: Available for IU alumni, staff, groups of three or more participants, and purchases of four or more courses*

    Meet your instructors

    Tatiana Kolovou

    Tatiana Kolovou

    Teaching Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship

    Tatiana Kolovou is a three-time Trustees’ Teaching Award recipient and a teaching professor at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. She teaches business communication and cross-cultural communication classes in the first-year MBA Core and teaches undergraduates, Kelley Direct MBA students (AGILE Burma and two Athens, Greece, classes), and participants of the Kelley Executive Education partner programs.

    Tatiana is a member of the Association for Business Communication and is accredited through the Center of Applied Psychological Testing and The Leadership Circle. She is a World Works licensed mentor, a program designed to help professionals be successful when managing cross-cultural teams and individuals in a global work environment.

    In her previous position, Tatiana worked with University Human Resources at Indiana University as an organizational development consultant. She has designed and conducted seminars, facilitated retreats, and helped professionals accomplish optimal work performance. As a professional speaker and trainer, Tatiana has presented at numerous US conferences and in 15 countries around the world. She has authored 16 courses in the Lynda.com/LinkedIn Learning library, including best-selling Communication Tips with over 2 million views.

    Tatiana holds an MBA from the University of Indianapolis and lives with her family in Bloomington, Indiana. She was born and raised in Athens, Greece.
