Joining a Laptop to the Domain (ADS)
Faculty & Staff laptops intended primarily for use on campus should be joined to the ADS domain. Before joining the laptop to the domain, the laptop's computer name must first be changed to reflect the standard naming convention, BL-BUS-%Username% (e.g. BL-BUS-JBANDERS). A Technology Operations employee should perform the joining to ensure that this naming standard is kept. An email must be sent to email@example.com with the machine name and username if a system has been joined to ADS.
Graduate student laptops should not be joined to ADS unless they are required to do so for class or to fulfill their Graduate Assistant duties.
