Welcome from the Chair

An exciting group of people make up the Department of Marketing at the Kelley School of Businessówe all believe that when it comes to business, everything starts with marketing. This philosophy is partially why our department has been rated so highly by the business press over the last few years. The 2012 Financial Times ranking of MBA programs rated us the No. 2 marketing program in the world.

Our reputation stems from the unique programs and classes we offer our students. In our MBA program, students get to manage all of the marketing efforts of a real brand, Osmocote plant food. Our MBAs also belong to one of two industry-focused academies, the Consumer Marketing Academy and the Business Marketing Academy, which, through specialized programming, give students an edge in preparing for careers as brand managers or in a wide range of positions within business-to-business firms.

Our marketing undergraduates also have unique opportunities. They take a series of skills classes to improve their abilities to communicate, think creatively, and analyze and present marketing data. They participate in the Excellence in Business Leadership programófunded by a grant from Targetówhich focuses on the skills students need to become the CEOs of the future. They lead and participate in the Undergraduate Marketing Club, and they attend the Marketing Career Fair, where they can interview for internships and permanent positions with Procter & Gamble, 3M, Eli Lilly, Unilever, Target, and many other companies. Over 900 companies interview our students each year.

I invite you to get to know our accomplished faculty and some of our outstanding alumni and students. I believe that we have the best marketing faculty in the country. In addition to being outstanding teachers, textbook authors, and case writers, they are research leaders in their fields of expertise, enabling them to bring the latest marketing knowledge and techniques into the classroom.
