MSIS and Kelley Direct MBA Joint Degree

Combining two world-renowned degrees from the Kelley School of Business

For students interested in a high-level business career with an IT focus, Kelley offers the MSIS/MBA Joint Degree. This joint degree combines our residential Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) degree with our online MBA. You’ll benefit from our MSIS degree’s 95 percent employment rate upon graduation and our online MBA through Kelley Direct providing you the opportunity to earn a world-renowned MBA from the prestigious Kelley School of Business no matter where you live or work.

Of the required 66 credit hours, 24 MSIS credit hours will be taken in-residence on the Bloomington campus. The remaining 42 credit hours are taken online through Kelley Direct. There are four basic components to the program:

  1. 24 credit hours on-campus through the MSIS Program
  2. 6 credit hours of electives online through Kelley Direct. Upon completion of the 24 on-campus plus 6 online credit hours, students earn the MSIS degree.
  3. Complete the formal admission process and gain admission to the Kelley Direct MBA program.
  4. 36 hours of core MBA courses online through Kelley Direct.

Students interested in the MSIS/MBA program apply and begin their studies in the residential MSIS program in Bloomington. Depending on their MSIS plan of study, students must declare their intent to complete the joint degree in either the fall or spring semesters of the MSIS program. Once their intent is declared, students take Kelley Direct electives and finish the MSIS degree. Students must then apply to Kelley Direct (including taking the GMAT) prior to starting the MBA core courses. Joint-degree students do not have to begin the MBA core courses immediately upon graduation from the MSIS program; they have up to five years to complete the MBA.
