About Us

The Center for Education and Research in Retailing is a leading authority on the retailing industry. Founded in 1997, we offer educational opportunities for students interested in retailing and a source of top-notch talent for retailers. Kelley alumni are leaders at top retailers worldwide, such as Target Corporation, Sears Holdings Corporation, and Kohl’s.

Our faculty are thought leaders whose innovative research techniques and projects address the challenges retailers face and expand the frontiers of retail knowledge. We strive to produce findings that significantly improve business practice.

The Center is closely aligned with the Kelley School’s Department of Marketing.

Mission

Our mission is to forge a partnership with the retailing industry that will:

  • Develop teaching materials and sponsor programs and events to increase student awareness of opportunities in retailing as well as to better prepare them for the most challenging and significant entry-level positions
  • Instill in our students the business-oriented values, perspectives, and skills needed to assume leadership positions in the industry
  • Stimulate the creation and dissemination of innovative approaches to business challenges experienced by retailers through a focused program of research and communication
  • Excite students and faculty to identify and meet current challenges faced by retailers as well as to anticipate and develop strategies and processes for emerging opportunities
