The Great Outdoors

Whether you want to hike, bike, boat, fish, canoe, water-ski, swim, spelunk, or just relax and admire nature, you can do it in or near Bloomington. Parks and pools are sprinkled throughout town. Lake Monroe, Indiana’s largest lake, is a few miles to the southeast, and Griffy Lake Nature Preserve is just north of town. If state and national parks are your thing, check out the 200,000-acre Hoosier National Forest, with its more than 230 miles of trails. Just to the east, rustic Brown County has a state park and, in the autumn, breathtaking views of the leaves as they change color.

Feel free to venture out on your own, or sign up for activities through IU Outdoor Adventures in the Indiana Memorial Union.
