Corporations make summer youth programs a reality

While traditional Indiana University students are away for the summer, high school students will stay in residence halls experiencing immersion in life at the Kelley School of Business.

The Young Women’s Institute (YWI) is for women who have completed their junior year of high school with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have an interest in learning about the world of business. Students attend one of two week–long sessions taking place in July.  

Completing a business project during their Institute experience, participants collaborate with IU students in a series of workshops taught by leading IU faculty. Following their experience, 44-56% of participants typically enroll at IU. YWI is funded in part by our corporate partners John Deere and Target.  

The Junior Executive Institute (JEI) is held in June. Students attend one of two week-long sessions attending business classes taught by Kelley faculty. The Junior Executive Institute is a Kelley, pre-college summer program designed for underrepresented high school students who are interested in studying business. The Institute is available for students who have completed their sophomore or junior year in high school with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. While attending the institute, students work as a team to prepare and present a business plan and consult with current IU students and faculty. JEI is funded in part by our corporate partners Ernst & Young, John Deere, PwC, and Eaton.
