Quote: "The Real Estate Club serves to help its members get more connected and meet with professionals in the industry. It is an excellent way for students to learn more outside of the classroom and to meet with companies for internships or employment. Getting face-time with professionals when a student is not in the Real Estate-Finance major is a great way to help learn the language of real estate industry. A great example of the interconnected real estate field is when we had a guest speaker, Ed Schreyer, from CB Richard Ellis come to IU. I kept in touch with him over time, and he had a contact for me to get to know down here in Florida. The professionals the Real Estate Club associates with are great at helping the members’ network and get involved. The Real Estate Club is an excellent source for advancing your knowledge and getting a solid foot in the door wherever you go."

Quote: "The real estate club not only gave an opportunity to familiarize my self with different career paths that are available in the real estate industry but allowed me to develop my network to get on my selected path. Through the club I was able to meet some of the brightest people at IU, from fellow members and officers to the highly esteemed faculty and advisors."

"During a club roundtable event at the annual Indiana Commercial Board of Realtors Conference held in downtown Indianapolis, I was introduced to a representative of Sandor Development Company. Sandor is a private retail developer based in Indianapolis with a satellite office in Scottsdale, Arizona. I interned with them for one summer and over Christmas break in their leasing department and will work with them full time after graduation."

Quote: “The Indiana University Real Estate Club provides an invaluable exposure to multiple facets of the real estate industry and the opportunity to network with colleagues and leaders in the industry. As a professional in private equity real estate investments, I am discovering how extensive the Indiana University alumni network is not just on a micro level but how uniformly fundamental it is on a global scale. I advise that any student interested in real estate as a career, hobby or excellent hedge to diversify an investment portfolio, become a member of the Real Estate Club and begin building a relationship that will last forever.”

Name: Nicholas G. Kanich
Year: 2007
Position: Director of Events
Quote: “The real estate club, as with many other organizations, has helped me forward myself in my professional career in this industry. As you attend the events not only do you learn about the industry but you also meet so many individuals that are active in Real Estate you begin to realize that it is a smaller community than you think.”

“An example I can give is just this morning I was on Globe Street (globest.com), a leading real estate news website, and I saw Foresite Realty Partners on that site. The club has met with the CEO of Foresite on numerous occasions and I'm sure will keep in touch with Mr. Shapiro who is definitely both a character and a predominate name in real estate in Chicago. This is just one example of the network that the club truly helps you build. I would welcome anyone who has any questions or would just like to talk about commercial brokerage or the industry in general to get in contact with me via the president, be that John Holloway or any future presidents, as I plan on keeping in contact with them as well. The club presents a great opportunity to learn and also more importantly network with people involved in real estate to help forward you in your career.”
