Description: W550, Management Consulting, is a course devoted to understanding the inner workings of the consulting industry. Management consulting represents one of the largest industries in the world, with over $200 billion in annual revenue, and represents an exciting and high-paying career opportunity for MBA students. The topics in the course are not only helpful to those students considering careers in consulting, but also to those who will work for firms hiring consultants (most of the Fortune 500). The primary learning objectives are to better understand: 

  • The basics of the industry – size, players, dynamics and history
  • Firm strategies – the mechanics of organizing firms and developing strategies
  • Project management – the lifecycle of consulting projects and tips for success

Individual lifestyle – the true story of pros and cons of working in this industry
