Dan Smith shares our vision for the future, and the importance of our alumni and friends in reaching our goals.

Annual Fund

Leadership, loyalty, opportunity...

The prime function of our program within the Kelley School’s Office of Development is to attract annually renewable private support from alumni and friends and match it with the current needs of the School, as articulated by the Dean.

The Annual Fund exists to afford the administration of the School the opportunity to raise academic standards and uphold the quality of the education Kelley students receive. Throughout the year, Kelley alumni and friends are solicited on our behalf by IU Foundation direct mail and Telefund efforts. Those annually pledged gifts, whatever the amount, make a distinct and critical difference in the School’s ability to support vital, otherwise unfunded programs.

Only a very small portion of the Kelley School’s annual budget comes from State allocations – the lion’s share is from other sources, including tuition and private gifts.

Although direct mail and telemarketing are critical tools used to attract Annual Fund dollars in the Kelley School, we personally contact many of our alumni for one-on-one meetings to highlight the purposes and goals of the Kelley Annual Fund - and how they might well meet with our alumni and friends’ philanthropic objectives.

Donor input, connections and initiative are critical to our overall success - and enable our Office to help Kelley alumni stay connected and active in the School that they treasure.

Jen Gray,

We're in the last quarter of the fiscal year and we've had a lot of great movement on several front. Great participation from this years faculty and staff campaign as well as our class campaigns. It's so wonderful to have suppport to Kelley from Kelley. As we've said in multiple communications this year, the key metric of success that we're aiming for this year is participation. Every gift counts toward our goals and also sends a positive message that alumni and friends continue to see the value in a business degree. I'm excited to report that if you haven't already heard, our undergraduate program moved up from #13 to #8 in the 2014 Business Week rankings. A lot to celebrate as always.

I continue to receive questions about whether it's too late to be a part of the Count Me In campaign. The answer, absolutely not. As a reminder, All gifts totaling $1k over five years will be eligible for listing in a donor recognition board in the building. All gifts totaling $5K over five years will make you eligible to name one of the seats in our new classrooms. Let this be a great way to make your mark. We are eagerly awaiting the completion of this project and will be opening up the new building in the Fall. If it's been awhile since you've visited our Bloomington campus, make this another reason to do so. I'll be happy to personally show you around the place. Happy Spring/Summer everyone, enjoy the warmer weather!
