In this capacity, Mike has full responsibility for the overall performance of Caribou Coffee Company. He ensures continued growth by overseeing the operation of approximately 600+ gourmet coffeehouses; growing the domestic, international franchise and commercial channel business; and strategically developing and differentiating the Caribou Coffee Company brand and culture. Mike leads more than 4,800 Caribou Coffee team members and is accountable to the Joh. A. Benckiser (JAB) Board of Directors. He recently led the transition from a public company to a private company and helped drive a greater than 10 times increase in the company’s market capital.

Prior to joining Caribou Coffee Company, Mike developed a proven track record as an accomplished executive. His career spans approximately 20 years of leadership achievements in finance, operations and general management within the restaurant and specialty retail industries, and he has extensive experience working both domestically and internationally. Most recently, Mike served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of lululemon athletica, a yoga-inspired athletic apparel company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. For almost two years, he was instrumental in leading lululemon athletica through a period of impressive growth during which a 130 percent revenue increase was attained. Prior to that, Mike spent 13 years and held various operations, finance, branding and franchise leadership positions with YUM! Brands. From 2003 to 2005, he was President of A&W All-American Food Restaurants, where he had P&L management responsibility for the $250 million restaurant brand. In this capacity, he provided strategic leadership for the repositioning of the 85-year-old brand, the creation of new growth opportunities, and the management of operations of the more than 1,000 associates throughout the United States. From 1999 to 2002, Mike was Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Puerto Rico for Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Taco Bell and Pizza Hut restaurants. In this capacity he had full P&L management responsibilities for this $200 million international division of YUM!
