The Course (Spring 2013 – Second 8 Weeks)

Have you ever wondered how business is conducted in other parts of the world? Are you interested in expanding your culture intelligence? BUS-X 255 is the course for you! It will introduce you to the business practices and etiquettes of Greece and expose you to the country’s rich culture. You will learn about the Greek economy, law, and government. The course is 3 credit hours and will meet the second 8 weeks of spring 2013. The credits can be used toward the International Dimension Requirement (1996 degree) and as an International Business elective.

At the end of the spring semester, you will receive a temporary grade. Final grades will be withheld until the completion of the required trip to Greece. You should be aware that this is an academic trip. You will be expected to behave and dress in a professional manner. Participation and conduct will be part of the course grade.

The Trip

The trip is planned for May 8-18, 2013. If accepted, you will be responsible for purchasing and scheduling your own airfare to and from Athens. You should plan on arriving at the hotel by 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 8 for an introductory group dinner. In Greece, you will continue your studies and will visit business, government, and academic institutions. You will also make several cultural excursions. The $1,500 cost of the trip includes 10 days hotel accommodations, daily breakfast, entrance fees, health insurance, a couple of group meals. You are advised to budget $50 per day to cover lunch and dinner, and you will also be asked to contribute cash toward tips for bus drivers and tour guides.
