UITS (University Information Technology Services) is the primary technological resource for all of Indiana University. The department is responsible for maintaining much of the technology in use by IU, including web and email servers, network storage, public labs, residence-hall internet access, and much more. They also provide support for all Operating Systems and software in use at IU. To get help from UITS, five options are available to you as an IU student, faculty or staff:
Telephone support: UITS staffs their general support line 24 hours a day and will answer support questions from anyone affiliated in any way with the university. This support is free and available at 855-6789.
Email support: When convenient, IU students, faculty, & staff can send questions via email to email@example.com. Email is answered daily.
Online support: UITS has developed a service which allows them to support users through an online chat environment with built-in diagnostic tools. Users can utilize this service by visiting http://ithelplive.iu.edu/
Walk-in support: Consultants are available to help users face-to-face in the Main Library’s Information Commons (IC) and the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU). See KB article http://kb.iu.edu/data/allx.html for more information.
Carry-in support: During walk-in hours, users can bring their laptop or desktop PCs to the Support Center office, and for a fee, consultants will provide hands-on technical support. See KB article http://kb.iu.edu/data/aorm.html for pricing information.
