In this class students will explore the topic of crisis management. They will examine what a crisis is, and the various types of crises managers face today. In addition they will address the causes, consequences, and stages of business crises. From here they will investigate the use of crisis management teams (CMTs) (i.e., how and why they are effective in helping organizations cope).
The discussion will include a look at effective communication strategies for informing constituents who are both internal and external to the firm. Finally, the course will investigate specific types of crises, and the causes, consequences, and responses appropriate for each.
