I am a former journalist, a life-long lover of words, and a Hoosier through and through. I can quote Coach Norman Dale. My freshman year at IU, Keith Smart hit "the shot." I helped colonize the Pi Kappa Phi chapter in 1987, and I was once called an S.O.B. - and other things - by Bob Knight. My word of wisdom for students who plan on taking my X204: Learning to write well is like learning to play a sport. It takes coaching and practice. The good news is we don't have wind sprints in writing class.
