Here are the requirements for the 18 credit hour Legal Studies major:
Required Courses (6 cr.)
- L201 Legal Environment of Business (3 cr.) or
L293 Honors Legal Environment of Business (3 cr.) - L470 Research in Business Law and Public Policy (3 cr.)
Any three of the following courses (9 cr.)
- L100 Personal Law (3 cr.)
- L250 Law and the Arts (3 cr.)
- L302 Sustainability Law and Policy (3 cr.)
- L307 Forms of Business and Commercial Finance Law (3 cr.)
- L311 Law for Entrepreneurs (3 cr.)
- L312 The Ethical Responsibilities of Business (formerly L412) (3 cr.)
- L314 International Business Law (3 cr.)
- L315 The Business and Law of Entertainment and Sports (3 cr.)
- L350 Online Law (3 cr.)
- L356 Intellectual Property Law and Strategy in a Global Environment (3 cr.)
- L406 Employment Problems and the Law (3 cr.)
- L408 Real Estate Law (3 cr.)
- L409 Law and the Environment (3 cr.)
- M429 Legal Aspects of Marketing (3 cr.)
One additional course (3 cr.)
The additional course can be from the list in section 2 above or from another area that relates to law and public policy. Included are:
- BUS D301 The International Business Environment, G330 Principles of Urban Economics,
G406 Business Enterprise and Public Policy, Z404 Effective Negotiations—all 3 credits - JOUR J300 Communications Law (3 cr.)
- SPEA V450 Contemporary Issues in Public Affairs (3 cr.)
- POLS Y304 American Constitutional Law I (3 cr.)
Three courses in Business Law Topics courses (L255, L355, and/or L455) may be substituted for any of the above courses except L201, L293, and L470.
(Students must receive approval from the Department of Business Law and Ethics if they wish to satisfy the section 3 requirement by taking a course that is not listed above.)
